June Results!

These are the results for June. The weigh in for May was 143.3 and weigh in for June is 141.8. A loss of 1.7 lbs. I achieved this by using a mix of Spark People and the old Weight Watchers Points Plus. With Points Plus. I didn't necessarily stick to 26 points a day. I tried to stay in the 26-30 point range. It is okay if my points are over thirty. Just don't want them too far over thirty.

May 143.3 and June 141.8
Slow and steady wins the race
I refuse to use diet products to win that race

When I started doing this I was at 139. Now my weight is like a pin ball just bouncing around. Trying to get back to 139 and stop the bouncing around. Yes weight fluctuates from day to day. I just want it to fluctuate on the downward. Soon I will be taking a picture of 139. Then taking a picture when there is a greater weight loss.

This isn't for everyone. Personally, I weigh myself everyday. That helps me to stay on track. Then again, I realize that my weight will fluctuate and it doesn't upset me when that happens. If you step on the scale. And normal fluctuation from one day to another is devastating. Then weighing everyday. Is probably not a good idea for you.

My first goal is to get to 139 and under
Without the constant bouncing back and
forth.

Telling someone just starting out. You have to find the keys that unlock your health. Yours may be vastly different from mine. I am not going to pretend like my diet is superior. Which honestly it's not. If it were though. I wouldn't act like me and my diet were so superior to you and your diet. I dislike people that do that. It's like when they lose the weight. They get amnesia and forget they were once in the same place.

Isn't this just the cutest idea? Must give Spark People credit. I would have never thought of it. I got the jars from TJ Maxx (I heart Pineapples) The marbles came from Amazon. The large marbles represent pounds. The smaller marbles represent ounces.
A cute idea that I got from Spark People
As I lose weight I move the marbles to the jar on
the right
I would have done this last week. My period and water weight gain, said ummm no! Although I don't mind getting my period. I am not going to complain. The water weight gain? Not so much!
June 2017 141.8

June 2017 141.8

I have been working on my exercise goals. Not quite there yet. Not anywhere near my goals yet. Refuse to give up!

The Ugly Truth! Week Nine! When I Habs a Code! sniff, sniff!

Short blog this week. I have a cold and feel like someone is playing the drums in my head. I gained a little from my birthday celebrations. I had a great time and regret nothing! I weighed 136.7 last week and 137.8 this week. I did lose half an inch off of my waist during February. Plus I've noticed that my neck is getting firmer and my double chin is going away.

As always. If an ad for a weight loss product appears on my blog. It should NEVER be considered an endorsement. Unless it is Spark People or Weight Watchers. I love Spark People. Rather lukewarm about WW, but they can work for some people.

Ugly Truth! Week Five! Bad Days and Patience!

This week's blog. Is brought to you by patience. Not only with weight loss results. With life in general. Sometimes, we must overcome the urge to smash our phone and tablet with a sledgehammer. That wouldn't be beneficial. Sometimes we must wait a long time for results. Giving up is easy, continuing when results are slow. Is hard. Don't give up!

Last week I was at 136.9. This week I am 136.5. I know that I can't expect my back to become muscular overnight. Even if I wish it would. There are no shortcuts. Things like this don't come easy.

While writing this blog. My phone actually told me LOL! I'm not kidding! Do you see? Do you see what I have had to put up with? First world problems. I know, but made me so irritated!

Week Five 136.9
I'm bad at the maths. How much of a loss is that

Not soon enough to see results!

Modern torture device that fastens in
the back.
Why? Oh Why? Does it fasten in the back?

Any ad for weight loss products appearing on my blog should NEVER be considered an endorsement!

The Ugly Truth! Week Three! The Reasons!

The reason this blog series is called The Ugly Truth. Is because it will always be the truth. Even when it is inconvenient. Even when the scale is moving in the wrong direction. Which my scale is moving in the wrong direction.  Just goes to show that even when you feel like you are doing all the right things. The scale doesn't always act like it is supposed to. Seriously scale what on earth are you doing? You're going that way, when you are supposed to be going this way.

This week 140.2
Last week 139.1
Up 2.6 pounds
Seriously Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!

I admit, I had a meltdown. In the midst of this meltdown. There were tears and frufrustration. When you feel like you are doing everything right. Then the scale is only moving up! I think a meltdown is an acceptable reaction. Then you realize that even if there are no results yet. You are doing something really good for yourself. No more tears and deddedicated to starting all. I want a different result. So I am going to have to have a different plan of action. Failure isn't an option

Week Three

I am going to stay positive. This is really going to happen. It seems like it isn't going to happen at the rate that I hoped. It is still going to happen. Which is another reason this journey is being blogged about. Seriously, I am not so conceited to believe that you all are waiting for my blog every week. It is a way to keep me accountable. At least to myself.

How About Those New Year's Resolutions?

Last year I said, I wasn't going to make any New Year's Resolutions. I didn't. I tried to be a better person throughout the year. I believe I was successful. My resolution was to make a series of small goals throughout the year and keep them. Did I do that? Did I keep them? Well there is always room for improvement.

There is something magical with the thought, that tonight at Midnight. Everything is erased and we get a brand new book to write our stories in. Let's think of life this way. Instead of once a year. Every night at midnight, no matter what we did the previous day. We get a brand new blank page to write our stories in.

Isn't it nice to think that tomorrow is a brand new day with no mistakes in it? ~Lucy Maude Montgomery

That quote is somewhere in one of my favorite books, Anne of Green Gables. Anne had gotten her bestest friend in the whole entire world, Diana drunk. She mistook the port wine for strawberry cordial. Or did she mistake the strawberry cordial for port wine? Well that is not important. What is important, she made a big mistake and was able to rebound from it. The mistake had consequences. Diana's mother thought she was an evil trouble maker bent on destroying her daughter. For a long time Diana was forbidden from having any contact with Anne. You see, even when we make mistakes there are consequences. When it isn't a mistake and we choose to do something willingly. There are consequences. The good news is that we are able to learn from mistakes or choices and turn our lives around.

We are free to choose our actions, but we are not free to choose the consequences. ~Stephen R. Covey

In life and everything else choose wisely.

I am not going to make resolutions. That is so intangible and seems so unworkable. I am going to choose to make small goals. Whether you choose to make small goals or resolutions. If you slip up, try again. If you don't give up. Even if you have a few set backs. You are still working at your goals. Even if you are running slowly, you're still lapping everyone on the couch.

It also helps if you think of your resolutions, or small goals. If your resolution is to lose weight and exercise. That is rather vague. It seems insurmountable. Break it down into small and doable goals. I will talk to my doctor. Find an exercise plan that he or she approves. Then I will work on losing five pounds. And then I will work on losing five more pounds, and then five more pounds, etc.

If your goal is to lose weight and exercise. I highly recommend Spark People. I will no longer recommend that other weight loss plan with two W's in their name.

     My small goals, in 2016
~ Run, actually run, in three 5ks
~ Start training for a half marathon
~ Make better food choices everyday of the week

Make 2016 your year! And be Fabulous!

PS. I rung in New Years 2014 watching Downton Abbey. I rung in New Years 2015 watching Downton Abbey. Guess what I am going to do New Years 2016? Watch NCIS, well maybe a little. There is a marathon on the USA Network. I guess I will also watch Downton Abbey

I Think That my Stationary (or is it Stationery) Bicycle Hates Me!

I also am beginning to think this blog hates me. As I have tried to write this blog three times and had to delete it because the blog decides it wants to put the pictures in left field literally. Or edits the blog on it's own. Or loses my captions or pictures. I am going to blame it on my phone. Yeah the phone did it!

So as I say with clenched teeth. Let's try this again.

I have this vintage exercise bicycle. It is from the late 70's. I love it, but I think it hates me. The seat is kind of rusted and so it slides forward without warning. Causing my knee to crash into the console, dashboard, knee bruising thingamabobble of doom.

Even though it does that it is still a wonderful exercise machine. And still works, even though it came from the era of bell bottoms and shag carpet. I would have shown you a picture of my knee, but my knees look weird. And they definitely aren't my best feature. One reason I always wear knee length skirts. And then there is that whole modesty thing, which is very important to me.

I have another piece of exercise equipment that I also love and it is also vintage. It is a mid nineties Total Gym. Best thing that we ever purchased. Even though it is almost 20 years old. It is still going strong. And a huge contributor to my lovely after pictures.

And I am in Week Five of my exercise goals! Even though I haven't managed to get up at the crack of dawn to exercise. I have managed to exercise, five days a week for at least thirty minutes. And last week when I had a wrench thrown into my plans. I still exercised. A while ago, I would have used that as an excuse to not exercise. And I do believe that is fabulous!

(Update) So I find out the hard way that I should not delete pictures off of my phone when I have used them in my blog. I thought once you put something out on the internet. It was there forever. Apparently not in all cases.
