What Can I Change in Eight Weeks? Part Two

January! New beginnings and a blank slate!
I love the New Year!

Thank you for reading my blog
For your reading enjoyment, Part One  What Can I Change in Eight Weeks?

Week Three

*January 1*
New Year's Day
Monday
This time last year. I was with my dad in the Emergency Room. The week before, my mom was sick. I am glad that they survived and they are still with me. I am selfish like that.

New Year's Day was always the start date in the past. So glad that I started two weeks ago instead of waiting until today.

It is so cold out.
Olivia's favorite place is the register.
Even with her sweater
Mandie takes her turn on the register

*Jan 2*
Tuesday
The only good thing about this cold weather.
Is the Spring flower bulbs.

*Jan 3*

Wednesday
My downfall is binge eating and not wanting to exercise.
Then giving up when I have a setback. Frigid weather is a trigger. Even though I can't control the weather. (If I could. We would never, ever have Winter, ever)
*Jan 4*
Thursday
Little bit of snow and not bad. It was very light and powdery. Had to clean off the car early for an appointment. I usually don't like snow.

*Jan 5*
Friday
I am trying so hard to be joyful in my present circumstances.
It is so cold outside and frigid. It makes the house freezing cold and unbearable, too. When will it end?
Oh I know! Bring on the tiny violins.

This may just be the World's Tiniest Violin
Courtesy of my mother who collects tiny instruments

*Jan 6*

Saturday
Brrrrrrrrrrrr! Get out my tiny band.

Much more of this and I will need a tiny band
With a tiny piano

*Jan 7*
Sunday
Last Week 141.8
This Week 141.8

Didn't lose, but at least I didn't gain!
The Scale is not my enemy.
The scale is a tool to measure my weight. It doesn't measure my worth.

Week Four

*Jan 8*
Monday
Found an interesting footprint in the snow yesterday

Footprint in my backyard. Is it a big dog? Bear? One legged Sasquatch on a pogo stick?

A day later. Footprint almost gone.
The toes are gone, but the heel is still there
If you look hard enough

Bear or dog?
One legged Mini Squatch?

It was about the size of a soda can.
Very interesting!

*Jan 9*
Tuesday
Last year, I weighed 137.6 This year I weigh approx. 140
Gained and lost and then gained the same four pounds. For the whole year. I don't want a repeat of that.

My very first blog on the subject!
Ugly Truth Week One

*Jan 10*
Wednesday
It is just one of those days. Feeling blah!

*Jan 11*
Thursday
This has been quite a learning process. While I can't control how I am treated. I can't control things like the weather.
I can control how I feel about them. I used to give up and binge. Then say, Oh! I will start over tomorrow. Then I would maintain or even worse gain.

The weather is lovely! Can we keep it?
I know that we can't keep it. It is January after all.

*Jan 12*
Friday
Raining and lovely. Washed all the ice melt off of the sidewalk.
Got my period today, so tired. I got up early to take Olivia to the groomer.  Normally would have made an excuse and not exercised. I exercised anyway!
(Talking about periods. If you don't want real and raw. This isn't the blog for you. I won't be vulgar, but I do still get a period. I will talk about it from time to time.)

Olivia went to The Spa today. Isn't she a cutie?
That is a rhetorical question. Of course she is a cutie.

Watching the magic window

*Jan 13*
Saturday
The beautiful weather didn't stay around. It is cold and windy. Don't like it! Don't want this to become a blog where I complain all the time. I want to keep it real, but I don't want to complain all the time. Forgive me, I might complain sometimes.

*Jan 14*
Sunday
It's January, heavy sigh.
Feeling a little icky.

New Year's Resolutions

Funny story about this purse. Read below to find out

It's that time of year again! The time that I make my New Year's Resolutions. Except for the bitter cold that usually accompanies January. I love that a brand new year. It equals a blank slate to start all over.

Here are my New Year's Resolutions!

1. Make God a priority and less of an afterthought. (Should have
been first in the first place)

2. Continue what I have been doing with diet and exercise.
Come back in six weeks to read my blog about in mid
       February!

3. Work on organizing my stuff. Take one room item and
organize it. That is also something that I have been
working on in the last part of 2017.

The funny story that goes with that purse pictured above.
I bought that two years ago, from Zulily. Or some such website.
I bought two. A larger black one for the fall. Had every intention to carry the above pictured one in the spring.
Spring rolls around and I cannot find it anywhere. Searching high and low. So, two years later. (Yes I am sloppy and disorganized)
I really buckle down and work on getting organized.
That purse has been in the back of my mind ever since it was lost.
On the very day. I start organizing. I'm thinking about it. Thinking about places it could possibly be.
I walk in my closet to start. Then pause and look down. What is slightly poking out of a reusable grocery bag?
That Danny Bear bag! It has been there the entire time. Just shook my head. I cannot believe it myself.
I am not a slob. Not by any means. There are no unused food dishes in my bedroom. Those get taken down to the kitchen right away. I am just messy and disorganized.

4. More joy and less negativity. You have no idea how hard this is

5. Less negativity about the people around me. Including celebrities
and fauxlebrities. You have no idea how hard this is.

6. Less negativity about the people in my past. I am going to try
and live by the phrase. If you don't have anything nice to say.
come sit by me. Don't say anything at all. By you, I mean me.

7. Read more and I don't mean Facebook. I mean real books

8. I'm also going to get my nose pierced. Well with all self

reflection. I need to do something fun.
(hmmmm Second thoughts on the nose piercing. If that is the
only resolution I break. I am doing good)

Check back in eight weeks and see if any of the resolutions have been kept! I guess that would be around the first of March
(Change that to mid March)

Happy New Year!
WOW! 2018!

~This is just my .02 cents. Not sure that it is even worth that much.~

How About Those New Year's Resolutions?

Last year I said, I wasn't going to make any New Year's Resolutions. I didn't. I tried to be a better person throughout the year. I believe I was successful. My resolution was to make a series of small goals throughout the year and keep them. Did I do that? Did I keep them? Well there is always room for improvement.

There is something magical with the thought, that tonight at Midnight. Everything is erased and we get a brand new book to write our stories in. Let's think of life this way. Instead of once a year. Every night at midnight, no matter what we did the previous day. We get a brand new blank page to write our stories in.

Isn't it nice to think that tomorrow is a brand new day with no mistakes in it? ~Lucy Maude Montgomery

That quote is somewhere in one of my favorite books, Anne of Green Gables. Anne had gotten her bestest friend in the whole entire world, Diana drunk. She mistook the port wine for strawberry cordial. Or did she mistake the strawberry cordial for port wine? Well that is not important. What is important, she made a big mistake and was able to rebound from it. The mistake had consequences. Diana's mother thought she was an evil trouble maker bent on destroying her daughter. For a long time Diana was forbidden from having any contact with Anne. You see, even when we make mistakes there are consequences. When it isn't a mistake and we choose to do something willingly. There are consequences. The good news is that we are able to learn from mistakes or choices and turn our lives around.

We are free to choose our actions, but we are not free to choose the consequences. ~Stephen R. Covey

In life and everything else choose wisely.

I am not going to make resolutions. That is so intangible and seems so unworkable. I am going to choose to make small goals. Whether you choose to make small goals or resolutions. If you slip up, try again. If you don't give up. Even if you have a few set backs. You are still working at your goals. Even if you are running slowly, you're still lapping everyone on the couch.

It also helps if you think of your resolutions, or small goals. If your resolution is to lose weight and exercise. That is rather vague. It seems insurmountable. Break it down into small and doable goals. I will talk to my doctor. Find an exercise plan that he or she approves. Then I will work on losing five pounds. And then I will work on losing five more pounds, and then five more pounds, etc.

If your goal is to lose weight and exercise. I highly recommend Spark People. I will no longer recommend that other weight loss plan with two W's in their name.

     My small goals, in 2016
~ Run, actually run, in three 5ks
~ Start training for a half marathon
~ Make better food choices everyday of the week

Make 2016 your year! And be Fabulous!

Vintage Schwinn exercise bicycle. My best and worst friend!

PS. I rung in New Years 2014 watching Downton Abbey. I rung in New Years 2015 watching Downton Abbey. Guess what I am going to do New Years 2016? Watch NCIS, well maybe a little. There is a marathon on the USA Network. I guess I will also watch Downton Abbey

Do You Make New Years Resolutions?

When you make resolutions, do you keep them? I make them,  but when it comes to keeping them. I am bad. I went over my resolutions from last year. And lets just say I am not organized and I can't play the piano.  With reading the Bible and praying. I did much better. There's always room for improvement in that.

So from now on. No more resolutions. And with that I am free. I will work on being a better person. I will work on being a healthier person whether it's January or June. No more feeling like a failure when I don't keep them. I can start over as many times as I need too. I finally figured out that New Years Resolutions are so 2014.

You want to hear something funny? I spent New Year's Eve
2014 watching Downton Abbey Season 3. I then spent NYE 2015 re watching Downton Abbey. This time Season 4. Does that mean I don't have a life? Don't answer.

Stay warm! And be your own fabulous! #fabulous #OneinaMillion

How About those New Years Resolutions?

How have you done on your New Years Resolutions? Personally I haven't done well at all. If Resolutions was a class in school. I would be repeating it next year. Even though I have not kept my resolutions. There is always something so promising about a brand new year. So instead of New Years Resolutions, I think I will resolve to start over every day.

I did sort of become organized. I bought those velvet hangers and it has made the difference. There is now so much room in my closet. If you do decide to buy those velvet hangers. Spend a little more and get the name brand hangers. The ones by Joy Mangano. True they are pricey, but the bargain velvet hangers are cheap, but they are no bargain. The bargain hangers will snap in two with little weight. I was simply moving one of the bargain hangers and it snapped with no pressure put on it. The JM hangers seem very sturdy. You can easily tell the difference in quality just by looking at them and comparing them.

Looking back on my resolutions. I didn't completely fail. Some of the resolutions that I would get a C average, exercise and eating more fruit and vegetables. Plus recently starting to read my Bible and pray more. So I will continue in those. And continue to try and be a better person. Knowing that we are all human and flawed. And even though we may look much better with the full compliment of makeup. We will continue to only use tinted lip balm.

Well off to try and be a better person today. Be fabulous, not only fabulous, but fab u lous!
