Ugly Truth! Week Four! When Things Don't Go Your Way!

Hmmmm! What do you do? When your sweet senior Rat Terrier has tummy trouble all over your exercise clothes. Can't blame her. That's what you get when they fall on the floor. Then you don't pick them up right away. Be grateful that you have a few extra exercise outfits! Anyway, thanks Mandie. You gave me an idea. It will unfold in the next couple weeks. So stay tuned!

Today's Weight 136.9
Down 3.3 total pounds
Down 7 ounces from starting weight

So I am down 3.3 pounds total from the last two weeks. Which isn't really recommended. A good safe rate to lose weight is 1-2 pounds per week. It becomes even slower the closer you get to your goal weight.

The reason for including my weight loss from the start of this blog. Is because I don't intend to have to lose this weight again. Having yo yo dieted all my life. I have lost and gained a person. This is the last time that this weight will be lost.

Here's a bit of my story. I started out many years ago at 160 lbs. Then got down to 140 lbs. Hovered around 140 lbs for years. Then joined Weight Watchers and got down to 125 lbs. Then gained twenty pounds back. Back to hovering around 140 lbs. So my goal is to get back down to 125. I feel like I can get there. In a safe and healthy manner. Even if I could lose enough fat and build lean muscle. If I only looked like I was 125 lbs. That would be great, too.

I got cleavage!
Okay so it is in the wrong location,
but I got cleavage!
Hahahahaha!
Actually Mandie did do me a favor. I was getting bored with the other exercise outfit. On my phone it was getting really hard to tell the weeks apart. When I get bored.  That usually causes me to give up. Don't want to do that!

The Ugly Truth! Week Three! The Reasons!

The reason this blog series is called The Ugly Truth. Is because it will always be the truth. Even when it is inconvenient. Even when the scale is moving in the wrong direction. Which my scale is moving in the wrong direction.  Just goes to show that even when you feel like you are doing all the right things. The scale doesn't always act like it is supposed to. Seriously scale what on earth are you doing? You're going that way, when you are supposed to be going this way.

This week 140.2
Last week 139.1
Up 2.6 pounds
Seriously Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!

I admit, I had a meltdown. In the midst of this meltdown. There were tears and frufrustration. When you feel like you are doing everything right. Then the scale is only moving up! I think a meltdown is an acceptable reaction. Then you realize that even if there are no results yet. You are doing something really good for yourself. No more tears and deddedicated to starting all. I want a different result. So I am going to have to have a different plan of action. Failure isn't an option

Week Three

I am going to stay positive. This is really going to happen. It seems like it isn't going to happen at the rate that I hoped. It is still going to happen. Which is another reason this journey is being blogged about. Seriously, I am not so conceited to believe that you all are waiting for my blog every week. It is a way to keep me accountable. At least to myself.

The Ugly Truth! Week Two, Confessions is Good for the Soul!

I have a confession to make. I don't like exercise. Still make myself do it. I confess, I also gained two pounds. Weight gain could be because recent intense exercise, maybe?

Week Two 139.1
Week One 137.6
+1.5
Does muscle weigh more than fat? The answer is no. A pound, is a pound. A pound of whipped cream (yum whipped cream) and a pound of steel. Weigh the exact same amount . It is just that the pound of steel takes up less space and seems heavier. Hoping to turn my pounds of whipped cream into pounds of steel.
I look pregnant and I have never been blessed with a child

Normally not a fan of bathroom selfies. It is just that the light is so unforgiving.

New Year's Eve and Resolutions

I have already decided. I am going to spend this New Year's Eve at home. Quietly reflecting on this past year, 2013. Okay really, I have no life. With no fancy party or parties to attend. I just heard on TV that only 14% of people go to parties, so that means I am in good company.  And I know that going to bed well before midnight, is exactly what will happen.

(Update: I spent last night binge watching Downton Abbey. I love that series. How did I miss out on it for so long? Now I have to watch all three seasons so I will be caught up by Sunday)

I sort of wish I had somewhere to go. Getting dressed up is one of my favorite things. For some strange reason, on New Years Eve, everyone drinking age is expected to get hammered. I choose not to drink for religious reasons. So that makes most of the New Years parties over priced. I went to one a long time ago. Spending $99 with the promise of a buffet. The Buffet was fettuccini Alfredo, grocery store rolls and broccoli. And the "buffet "was only open for an hour. I just cannot eat $99 worth of pasta, rolls and broccoli in an hour. Turns out the "buffet" was all you could drink alcohol. And that doesn't really appeal to me. I don't find being drunk, falling down drunk, hung over, or vomiting fabulous.

Every year I make New Year's Resolutions. Doing a pretty good job of keeping them. My grade on keeping resolutions is about 75%. The only resolution where there is trouble is eating more fruit and vegetables. That is one resolution I really want and need to keep.

I know that many people have given up on making resolutions. In thinking of the many reasons people don't keep their resolutions. Perhaps there is an all or nothing mentality? Or the goals are too hard to obtain or even stick with? If one makes a resolution to eat better and messes up one or two days, all is not lost. Or if you plan to exercise and you miss a day. Then get back in the saddle and do not give up.  It's never failure until you give up. Messing up and then readjusting and trying again is a learning experience.  If we fall down seven times, we must get back up eight.

Now I know that you all have been waiting with baited breath. To hear my resolutions. Drum roll please.....nah just kidding.  Well here they are.

1) Read the Bible and Pray everyday
2) Eat one fruit and one vegetable a day, conquer my food nemesis
3) Exercise for 30 minutes, six times per week
4) Do my hair and makeup every day working on looking my best and most fabulous
5) Spend an hour a day becoming organized
6) Stay organized once I have become organized
7) Work on piano lessons at least 30 minutes a day six days a week

Blogging every couple months about my resolutions will keep me accountable. I have a feeling that the whole veggie thing is going to be the hardest. Next hardest is becoming organized. Being a creative soul, it is really hard to put things in their proper place. It will be really hard to read my Bible everyday. Bible reading is just really hard. I can read and comprehend Jane Austin and Charles Dickens really hard books, but Bible reading goes in one ear and out the other. Will be working on concentrating.

There is just something so wonderful and promising about a brand new year. Making plans to work on your life and improve it. And that is why I find New Year's Resolutions fabulous!

Happy New Year!
