Wigs for Kids! Part Two!

   Part One of this blog!

Every year for my birthday. I like to make a donation to a charitable organization.  Still working on the enormous task of growing my hair out for donation. This organization makes wigs for kids that have lost their own hair. Due to illness or other reasons. The organization is called, Wigs for Kids!

It can be difficult. Whenever I see a cute, soft and wavy bob. They are all cute! The temptation to cut and color my hair is strong. It is much harder is to go through your young life without hair. Hair is such an important part of our self esteem. Maybe it shouldn't be, but it is. Persisting in this goal.

The length of my hair now!

I knew that my hair wouldn't be long enough by my birthday. So starting a Fundraiser. Seemed like a really good idea. The idea is to raise $1,800. Enough to make one wig. The recipients and their families don't get charged. Erin's Birthday Fundraiser, For Wigs for Kids!

My hair length from December 13, 2018

Found some great tasting Gummy hair vitamins. As well as attempting to eat healthy food and get plenty of exercise.

Wigs for Kids!

Recently I received an email about my blog. If I didn't publish something soon. It would be deleted. It has been too long since I wrote anything. Here goes!

I am not ready to write about my health and fitness journey,  yet. That blog is coming soon. I didn't want 'Ordinary Girl' to disappear forever. Not after all the blood, sweat and tears that has been poured into it. Okay, okay a little to much drama!

This is the length of my hair when I decide to donate
I can't remember the exact month

Let's get to the reason behind these ramblings. Every year around my birthday. I like to do an act of service.
(Insert, shameless tooting of my own horn)
This year the chosen charity is; Wigs for Kids! Not only growing out my own hair and planning to donate that. Since that will take a little long while. Planning to make a monetary donation. Plus hosting a fundraiser on Facebook. This will happen around my birthday! Which is in March, stay tuned.

My December progress!

Well maybe it is a little bit longer brushed out?
I still have a long way to go.

What is the reason behind choosing Wigs for Kids? Remember when you were growing up. If you had a bad hair day? It was just the worst. (It is still pretty bad honestly) When you were on the receiving end of a bad haircut? It had to grow out and it took forever. Even worse? A hideous haircut before a big, much photographed event. I received the ugliest haircut before I took my senior pictures. Not only did it make the pictures hideous. The cut took forever to grow out.
Hair and how it looks is so important. Imagine having an illness that causes hair loss? That would be utterly devastating.

Choosing Wigs for Kids was a personal decision. While there are other charities that accept hair for donation. Surely they do good work.  It isn't my goal to disparage any other charities. Or their operations. Just wanting to draw deserved attention to this very wonderful charity.

I really need to grow my hair 14 inches Plus. From the back of my neck. Here is some information if anyone else is interested.

Donate a Ponytail. No highlights for me. For a year or more. It is for the kids. It will be okay.

This organization is also on Facebook

And on Twitter

Now I have to go and order some Sugar Bear Hair, vitamins. This isn't sponsored. Hearing good things about that vitamin brand. I am hoping that it will expedite the process.

I decided to stick with my current hair multi vitamin by Eufora

What Have I Signed Up For?

When I had to wake up before the crack of dawn. On the morning of the Iron Girl Columbia. I told myself this wouldn't work out (pun intended) And thought that I would not be signing up for another 5k. I am far from my best so early in the morning. Not even qualify as a human before I have had my first cup of coffee.

Previously I had intended to register for another race in November.  While waiting at the Iron Girl. I was carrying on this serious conversation in my head. I mean I might as well talk to myself. No one else was talking to me. At least I was talking in my head. I wasn't talking out loud. At least I don't think I was talking out loud. Good idea to wait and see if I wanted to do more 5ks. Definitely don't want to do anymore 5ks. Then after the race was complete. I thought, I sort of liked doing this and it did benefit a charity.

Waking up earlier than usual is really the toughest part. Well next to the waiting and the 3.1 miles. The preparing, the feeling like a turkey vulture had come to take you into the after life. And the heat from preparing during the Summer. After all that waking up dreadfully early was really the hardest part.

Just a little motivation

So about this race in November. I felt like I was not ready for that. Seriously needing a lot more time to prepare. I will look for another race in April or May. I will have plenty of time to prepare for something that far in advance. So searching a 5k website there plenty of 5ks, just not for me. So I signed up for the one in November. This one also benefits charity.

The thing about this race in November. I HAVE TO RUN! The coordinators have a separate event for walkers. So walking is not an option. I have two months to prepare, TWO MONTHS.  So now I am thinking, what did I just sign up for? Last time I had seven months. At the end of seven months I wasn't prepared. Now I have just under two months. What have I done?

I have registered. And I will do this! Henry Ford said, Whether you think you can or you think you can't, you're right. So I think can run.

Great things on the horizon
